This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to support a role in venue and event security as part of their continual professional development or career progression.

Venue Security Operations provides operational security and safety professionals with knowledge that helps to secure and protect public events & venues. This course covers profiling, screening, interoperability with multi agency approaches, fortification of venues & events and skills required to respond to emergency situations.

This qualification is recommended if you already work in events in a public safety role such as security, steward, venue staff or events management. It gives a deeper understanding of crowd behaviour, profiles, crime detection, working with other agencies such as police, what your role is in emergency situations, managing safety risks, safety methods, operational tasks and much more!

This can help with your career progression towards a supervisory or management role and is good development when working in any event based role within a venue or when working large events such as festivals.

To register onto this qualification, you MUST:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Have ACT Awareness and ACT Security Certificates, no older than 12 months from the date of registration.

To make sure you have the correct skills to underpin the knowledge in this qualification, it is recommended that you already have either:

  • Level 2 SIA Licence-Linked qualification

OR

  • A Public Safety qualification at Level 2 or above

You will need to provide proof of registration criteria by the first day of your course. If you cannot provide it, then you will not be permitted to enter onto the course.

This qualification contains the combined knowledge and skills of 3 qualifications. You can choose to do the combined Venue Operations qualification, or one unit at a time:

  • QNUK Level 2 Award in Profiling Events and Crowds (RQF)

  • QNUK Level 2 Award in Securing and Monitoring Public Events (RQF)

  • QNUK Level 2 Award in Responding to Security and Safety Incidents (RQF)

You will learn:

  • How to establish a profile of an anticipated crowd and establish a baseline for characteristics and behaviours.

  • Understanding the principles of protecting public events

  • How to profile audiences and expected behaviours

Securing and Monitoring Public Events

You will learn:

  • Operational knowledge of typical venue protection structures

  • Various operational tasks

  • Identifying vulnerabilities alongside managing safety and security risks

  • Requirements of the ‘last mile’ at a public events

  • Methods establishing a secure filter process to a public event

  • Common vulnerabilities which provide hostile opportunities

  • Egress risks and requirements

Responding to Security and Safety Incidents

You will learn:

  • Combinations of independent and joint services methodologies in relation to responding to incidents at a venue

  • How to respond to safety incidents at a venue

  • Understanding interoperability between protective services at public events

Assessment requirements:

Learners are assessed for this qualification using Multiple Choice Examination.

The MCQ paper will be taken under examination conditions

Learners will sit a minimum of 1.25 metres apart

Learners will not confer during the examination
